Case Exterior, Left Side

This is a view of the case from the left, showing the transparent window, latch, and side fan.

The power supply goes to the upper rear on a set of rails provided. These rails could hold a heavy-duty server-quality power supply, but comes with a cover plate for regular power supplies. The power supply has not arrived yet.

To the upper right (front) you can see the 5.25" drive bays. There is room for four drives here.

Below that are the two 3.25" drive bays. These are removable; just flip a lever and they come loose. When done, you pop them back in and lock them with the lever again.

Also visible is the side fan, about which more later. You can also see the latch, which holds the door very securely but allows access with just a touch.

Side Fan Detail

This is a detail view of the side panel fan. You can see the fan guard, though the color is not right in the picture. It really is purple, though. You can also see the filter behind it, which is black.

The fan that is there now will be moved elsewhere most likely in favor of a UV fan. The extra fans haven't arrived yet.

Also visible here is the lock on the side latch. You can lock this, and you can lock the front panel, both with the same key. Keys are included :-)

Front of case, viewed from inside

This affords a good view of the ten drive bays. Look at all that room!

Below the drive bays you can see one of the UV fans that was shipped. Note the violet plastic bracket -- this is one of the easy-in fan brackets. Two tabs hold the fan in place, taking it out requires NO tools. There's one of these on the front of the lowest drive bay as well.

Also visible here are the cable guides. That's the violet rectangular thingys next to the drive bays. Cables go through and between these. This keeps them out of the way and air flow at its best.

Finally, note the four white strips on the bottom of the case. These are the mounting brackets for your 5.25" drives. Until needed, they are stowed here and in another strip that you'll see in the next frame.

Rear of case, viewed from inside

At the top of course is where the power supply will go. Below this is the I/O plate for the motherboard. This will be swapped out with one that comes with the motherboard. Next to the plate are the two rear fans. Right now the two Cooler Master fans are mounted here, but they will be moved to the front of the computer since they won't be visible there.

Below this is where the card cage will go for the motherboard. Not much to say here. Very standard, very reliable.

Finally, note the four white strips on the bottom of the case. These go with the four in the front end.

Front of case

Quiescent, this case is pretty nondescript. The entire front of the machine is sculpted to present the appearance of a single face.

Visible is the power light, drive light, front door lock, and USB port cover.

Not visible are the feet. Normally folded under, they can be folded out to present a wider stance, on the off chance that you need to compute in high winds or earthquakes.

Hm. I guess that's a good idea.

Front USB port detail

A little blurry (sorry), this shows the USB port opened. Cables come out inside to connect to the motherboard.

I was mistaken about the firewire port. I could swear I read that somewhere, but maybe I got it confused with something else.

Front panel cover open

Here you can see the details of what the front panel is like.

You can see on either side of the 5.25" bays is a little slot where the mounts (that are kept on the bottom of the case for now) just slide in and *click* into place.

Below this are the two external 3.25" bays. The floppy goes in the top of these. These correspond to the top two slots of the upper removable drive bay.

Next to these are the power and reset switches. The power switch is easy to use, but the reset switch is in a failsafe housing -- you need a pencil or something to properly make contact. Maybe your fingernails will work, dunno.

Drive bay removed

Here you can see how one of the drive bays looks when it is removed.

Note the fan mount right in the front of the bay. Putting a fan here is an excellent idea since it keeps the drives cool. The upper bay doesn't have one of these, since the external slot panels are accessed by it.
